Legal Adviser
If your experience of all things ‘legal’ is that they are fast, understandable, user friendly, and make you feel like a valued customer getting good value for money then, Congratulations!
If not, can I suggest you read on...
There are 3 areas I specialise in:
1. Drafting (and Redrafting) Commercial Legal Agreements or any other business documents you might need.
Things like:
- Terms and Conditions of Business (Free Advice here)
- Contracts of Employment (Free Advice here)
- Business Agreements
- Shareholder Agreements
- Joint Venture Agreements
- Franchise Agreements
- Agency Agreements
…and many more !
So what? Solicitors do that every day.
Indeed they do but think about this. The documents I put together are written in plain and understandable English that never lose sight of what you are trying to achieve commercially but are acceptable to any lawyer... because I am a lawyer.
Too many legal documents, drafted in the traditional way, are so full of jargon they can’t easily be understood by non-lawyers. Which is pretty bad when you consider that a legal document is only there to record a verbal agreement between non-lawyers!
I am 100% confident that what I produce for you will be totally understandable, by you. So confident, in fact, that I guarantee it.
2. Practical and Commercial Legal Advice on a wide range of business issues.
Whether you are planning ahead or having problems with something you or somebody else has already put into practice.
Things like:
- Interpreting Clients' Contracts
- Employment issues
- Directors and Shareholder problems
- Mergers Acquisitions & Sales
3. Negotiating a Deal.
Everybody wants deals to happen - that's how business works. So how come in the boardroom we get as many misses as hits? Is it commercial good sense or are we letting too many of them unravel for want of good guidance?
In any deal both parties know what they want to achieve. Both parties are initially excited at the prospects. But getting the right deal is a balancing act between commercial art and legal science. Striking the right balance is crucial. When the deal is handed over to the professionals you don't want it to degenerate into ‘point scoring’ between lawyers. An expensive game for which you will pick up the bill. As the price goes up, the deal goes sour and in the worst case, it goes off altogether.
I can be there to make sure your deals stay on track. To make sure you stay focussed on what it was that excited you in the first place. To help with, or, if necessary, to lead the negotiations. To brief our lawyers, as and when we need them, and to negotiate with theirs. To strike the right balance between the art of the deal and the science of the contract.
